How to Make Your Holiday Guests Feel at Home

Expecting company for the holidays? Here are a few ideas to make your guests feel at home:
Welcome Kit – Show your guests hotel-style hospitality with a welcome basket featuring an assortment of bathroom essentials and a few little surprise goodies.
Clear the Closet – Empty out the bedroom closet and clear up extra space in the front entry closet or mudroom. Not only does it show your guests that they are welcome, it makes it easier for them to be tidy guests.
Guest Room Makeover – If you’ve got a little more time, give your guest room a quick makeover with touches like a new bedspread, decorative pillows and accent pieces that add a pop of color.
Spare Slippers – Leave a basket of washable slippers in the guest closet or bathroom, as slippers are rarely something people remember to pack, but often wish they had when visiting.
Cozy Comforts – Try to anticipate what your guests will need to be cozy and comfortable. Stack extra blankets at the foot of the bed, give guests at least two towels each and leave throw blankets in the main visiting rooms.
Breakfast Bar – Set up a self-serve breakfast bar with coffee, tea, a selection of dried fruit and nuts, homemade granola and cold cereals for those days when your guests are up before you.
Tourism Tips – Prepare a tourism kit for your local area with maps, guidebooks, lists of restaurants and coffee shops, and of course, an extra house key!
